As isolating as this experience can feel, our heroine is neither the first nor the last person to do battle with a broken limb and an Ilizarov.
Here are some blogs by other folks:
Darren G in the UK with a apparatus on his femur in 2009 (he named his frame Metal Mickey, Brits, so odd)
2009 chat room about Ilizarov (cute domain)
Please pass on my admiration of your heroine's attitude and mission.
ReplyDeleteThere are some severely depressed and morbid compatriots limping around my local reconstruction clinic, and maybe if you could bottle your strength then I could give it to them. ("Take 3 times a day, after alcohol.")
How odd that I have never named my constant companion... It is only very referred to by the third-person singular neuter pronoun (subject case). That is, "It". I think that maybe after such a long and intimate relationship there is no longer a need for names. And on the day of separation, It will no doubt go to the great TSF recycling site in India without ever being named. But I won't shed too many tears...
I trust that the heroine's real name is nothing like Eileen Tu Wonside, She Topplsovawicz, or similar?
I confess that I use my blog to off-load when things are tough, but also as a record to remind me if I ever get to be old enough to think that people are interested in my age.
I will probably be surprised.
Well done lass.
